THE GORNERGRAT
Zermatt must-see!
The Gornergrat (3,089 m) is one of the region’s must-see peaks and has been on the list of Switzerland’s most beautiful excursions since 1898. Discover an Alpine sightseeing and a unique view of the Matterhorn. Europe’s highest open-air cog railway transports passengers 365 days a year from Zermatt station (1,620 m) to the summit of Gornergrat. The ride takes 33 minutes and covers an altitude difference of 1,469 meters. On 9.4 km of track, you will go over impressive bridges, through galleries and tunnels. Enjoy the larch and arolla forests, gorges, and mountain lakes. You will have a stunning view of the Mont Rose range, with Switzerland’s highest mountain (Pointe Dufour, 4,634 m), a view of the second-largest glacier in the Alps, the Gorner Glacier, and 29 peaks over 4,000 meters high. Not forgetting the Matterhorn!
MATTERHORN GLACIER PARADISE
Europe's highest resort!
Europe’s highest ski resort (3,883 m), with panoramic views Italian, French and Swiss peaks. On a sunny day, the view from the panoramic platform is so clear that you can almost see the Mediterranean in the distance. The Mont Blanc (4,810 m), the highest mountain in the French Alps, seems so close! And you can quite often see the summit of Gran Paradiso (4,061 m), Italy’s highest mountain.
Here is some activities offered up there:
- Its authentic ice palace: an ice palace at an altitude of over 3,883 metres. Between sculpted ice statues and ice formations dating back several centuries, you will experience a magical moment. The lift ride up is spectacular in itself.
- A Cinema Lounge: Europe’s highest altitude cinema, located in the Breithorn caves. Film sequences lasting just a few minutes, dedicated to themes such as mountaineering, fauna and flora, reveal all the facets of Zermatt.
- Culinary delights: The Mattergorn glacier restaurant is a futuristic mountain restaurant with an open kitchen and panoramic windows. It serves Valais (Zermatt’s region) specialities.
- Shopping in paradise: right next to the restaurant, the Peak Shop has a great selection of souvenirs for your loved ones, including summit wine.

ZERMATT VILLAGE
The most famous alpine village!
Zermatt is a mountain resort in the south of the Swiss canton of Valais, famous for skiing, mountaineering and hiking. With 38 peaks reaching 4000-metre in the immediate area and a 400-kilometre hiking trail network, Zermatt is the most famous mountaineering village in the region. One of the best place for hiking ! You will find marked trails around Zermatt, Täsch and Randa with varying degrees of difficulty, length and gradient to suit all levels. The town is located at an altitude of around 1,600 metres, at the bottom of the iconic Matterhorn. Its main street, Bahnhofstrasse, is lined with luxury boutiques, hotels and restaurants, and offers a variety of events.
THE MATTERHORN MUSEUM
The story of the famous Matterhorn ascent!
The Zermatlantis Matterhorn Museum offers an overview of Zermatt’s development. It explains the triumph and tragedy of the first ascent of the Matterhorn. You will be immersed in the alpine world, centuries of discovering how people of Zermatt lived in the 19th century and shiver at the sight of the torn rope used for the first ascent of the Matterhorn in 1865.
THE GORNER GORGE
Discover the world of hydropower!
The Gorner Gorge is a natural beauty! Discover a world of hydraulic power and rock faces. The waters of the Gornervispe have been shaping the gorge since the last Ice Age. It’s an easy 20-mn walk. The green-hued rock around is about 220 million years old. A true spectacle of nature within 15 minutes’ walk of the edge of Zermatt village.
It’s the outdoor spaces and especially the desire to share them that led us to create the agency in 2019.
